Our twelve week weight management program is not about becoming the next super-athlete or super-thin model; it's about helping you to regain a healthy weight that makes sense for you and that you are comfortable with. Shedding unwanted weight may feel like an overwhelming, nearly impossible task but not with the WeightSavvy Teens and Kids program.




This program is not a diet program nor is it a quick fix. There are no pills, shakes, supplements, shots or anything else that is going to make the process seem easy and convenient. This program is design to help you to be "Weight Savvy" meaning shrewd and well informed about health, nutrition and fitness. Armed with all of this great information, we create awareness; awareness results in a change in attitude and behaviour enabling you to make better choices and good decisions. For example, if you struggle with severe acne and we suggested to you that you could be acne-free if you stopped drinking milk. Most of you would stop drinking milk since being acne-free would help you to look better and improve your social life too.

This program is similar, if we suggested to you that you could solve your weight problem by not drinking pop, most of you would do it. Not because you are on a crazy diet that forbids pop, but because you've learned that the high sugar content of pop will sabotage your efforts to maintain a healthy weight.

You don't have to go through the pitfalls and torture of dieting, because you're not on a diet and you don't have to deprive yourself of your favourite foods, you just have to make good choices about the amount and types of food that you eat and the amount and type of exercise that you participate in. Our aim is to teach you everything that you need to know to help you to make better choices and good decisions so that you can regain a healthy balance weight that just right for you.

Food
Eat what you want. Our four basic healthy eating guidelines make it easy for teens and kids to make informed healthy food choices. Teens and kids are shown how to select the best quality of food that is low in sugar, fats and sodium and that is high in essential nutrients while focusing on eating healthy smaller portions. Our program stresses the importance of eating a healthy well-balanced diet, eating when you feel hungry and stop eating when you feel satisfied to avoid overeating.

Fitness
You don't have to join an expensive fitness club to get fit. Teens and kids get active again with our weekly Take the Challenge walking or running program that includes cardiovascular training, strength training and flexibility training. Our fun fitness program helps teens and kids ease into increasing their fitness level with our Take the Challenge fitness program. Each week teens and kids swap their inactive time (watching TV, playing computer or video games, talking on the phone) for fitness time. Our weekly fitness program incrementally increases activity levels enabling teens and kids to successfully shed unwanted weight while meeting Health Canada's physical fitness guidelines.

Family
We believe that the family is an integral part of a teen or child success with weight loss. Canadian research has shown programs that are centered on establishing a healthy lifestyle for the entire family and that involve the participation of the whole family, are far more effective than programs that merely hand a child or teen a diet and exercise plan with the expectation that he or she will be able to manage the program independently. That is why, each week, teens and kids and their parents meet with our healthy lifestyle nutrition and fitness consultants to review steps of the building blocks to success, address concerns or challenges, track progress, celebrate successes, and create an activity plan to ensure success. The S.W.I.F.T progress and rewards program gives parent(s) an opportunity to acknowledged their family's commitment to the program and recognize their teen or child's accomplishments and successes.

Foundation
Changing the way that we do things may seem like a daunting task but not with the “Building on What You've Learned" program. Each week families select from a long list of poor lifestyle behaviours and are shown how to substitute these for new healthy lifestyle habits. We make it easy to adapt these new healthy lifestyle habits into your family's daily routine without feeling overwhelmed with food restrictions and drastic behaviour modifications. Our consultants help families to create a solid foundation of healthy lifestyle habits that enable teens and kids to grow into adulthood devoid of a lifelong struggle with weight problems. We are here for you, to inspire you, to motivate you and to provide you with the support, guidance and direction that you need to help you succeed and reach your healthy weight goals.
